Superhero-enthusiast Bracey has a lot in common with his favorite caped crusaders. Just like Iron Man and Superman, wish kid Bracey has demonstrated bravery in the face of adversity and strength in the battle against his personal supervillains: his life-threatening medical conditions.
Bracey endures a variety of conditions, including severe lung disease, congenital scoliosis and hand deformities. In a letter to Make-A-Wish®, his mom shared, “Bracey has been through more in just his six years of life than most adults will ever have to go through in their lifetime.”
Though multiple surgeries, 22 so far, have often kept him in the hospital, nothing has broken his fighting spirit. When wish granters asked Bracey what his one true wish was, he told them he wanted to meet his favorite superheroes in person at Walt Disney World® Resort.
Bracey’s mom said she had never seen Bracey as happy as he was on his wish trip. He had a blast riding all the rides he wanted, sitting in the front row at a SeaWorld show and enjoying the fireworks display at night. Most importantly, he got to meet some of his favorite superheroes, like Spiderman!
Bracey wasn’t the only one having a good time on his adventurous getaway. According to his mom, it was a “miraculous week” for the entire family.
“We were able, for the first time, to go away and not have to worry at all about our son’s health issues,” she shared. “We just relaxed and enjoyed every single minute of our family being away at a magical place without a care in the world.”
Bracey continues to show super-human strength and courage in spite of his illness. When he looks back on the memories of his granted wish, he is filled with a new kind of “superpower:” the hope, strength and joy of a wish come true.
