Brady has a unique hobby; he loves to mow lawns. At just 15-years-old, he is driven and focused on making his dream of starting his own lawn-mowing business come true. Brady’s passion, entrepreneurial spirit and determination led to a one-of-a-kind wish experience…
Brady is battling acute lymphoblastic leukemia, or ALL, but he does not let this prevent him from being independent and driven. While some teenage boys are focused on video games and sports, Brady devotes much of his time to thinking about the future. And for Brady, that future involves owning his very own business.
Mowing lawns is more than just a chore or work for Brady; it represents his independence and drive to move forward – and it helps him forget about the daily stress of his condition.
After Brady was referred to Make-A-Wish by his social worker, wish-granting volunteers visited him to learn more about his wish. Brady told them he wanted his own lawn mower to pursue his lifelong goal of creating his own business.
Make-A-Wish granted Brady’s wish and gave him his own lawn mower and supplies, including a new hat and sunglasses. When Brady first saw the machine, bright red and covered in balloons, he was ecstatic! He told his wish-granting volunteers, “The most important part of my wish is enabling myself to get a job and keep moving forward.” And that’s exactly what Brady has done. Before his wish, Brady mowed his neighbor’s yard. Now, with the right equipment and a never-give-up attitude, he mows 12 yards on a regular basis!
Brady’s wish is one that will last a lifetime. It provides him with the tools to pursue his goals and, ultimately, his independence.
