There is nothing four-year-old Connor loves more than spending time in the great outdoors. His favorite hobbies are fishing and mudding, but most of all, he loves camping with his family.
As much as Connor loves to camp, his life-threatening case of cystic fibrosis often prevents him and his family from going on trips. His medical needs simply can’t be met with typical camping equipment. When Make-A-Wish® came to Connor, he said he wanted to find a way to experience his favorite hobby alongside his family. Connor wished to have a camper.
Mount Comfort RV worked alongside Make-A-Wish to help make Connor’s heartfelt wish come true. They knew the perfect camper for Connor would be able to meet his medical needs, but also would provide a space for Connor to spend time with his family.
The day of the wish reveal, Connor and his family visited Mount Comfort RV wearing matching black hoodies embroidered with “Team Connor.” When he saw his camper, Connor began bouncing around with excitement, eager to see the inside. He quickly clambered up the stairs of the camper to look around, but paused to make sure his family was close behind.
Connor couldn’t stop smiling as he explored his new camper with his siblings. The camper has electricity and refrigeration, so Connor’s medical treatments won’t be interrupted - even in the middle of the woods - but it also provides enough space for the entire family. Connor especially loves the lofted bed.
“Wait until you see this!” he called out to his dad from the loft, giggling with excitement.
The wish reveal took place right before Halloween, and Connor was so excited to try out the new camper that he asked his parents if they could skip trick-or-treating to go on a camping trip right away.
“If it was up to Connor, he would live in it,” said Connor’s mom, Brittany.
In a letter to Make-A-Wish following the reveal, Connor’s mom said they had already spent the night in the camper and were planning the first of many camping trips as a family.
“From the bottom of my heart, I'm grateful,” Connor’s mom said in the letter. “To know that you all granted his one and only wish means more than anything.”
Connor’s wish was bigger than just the camper itself. It provided an opportunity for him and his family to spend time together doing what they love most.
