McKenzie enjoys playing outdoors and loves all things Disney. However, unlike most children, McKenzie is battling a life-threatening medical condition that has forced her to undergo a liver transplant. McKenzie’s condition has been difficult, but her bright spirit continues to shine through.
McKenzie always dreamed of visiting Walt Disney World® Resort, but was unable to travel due to her illness. She and her family had all but given up hope when wish granters arrived. Since a trip to Orlando, Florida would not be possible, Make-A-Wish® decided to bring the magic of Disney to McKenzie instead!
Make-A-Wish got to work building a Disney-themed play area right in McKenzie’s backyard. The playset was a theme park all its own, complete with two slides, a rope ladder, and swings. A pirate ship wheel added a final touch, ensuring that McKenzie could steer the playset in any direction her imagination desired for years to come.
On a cool spring morning, Make-A-Wish revealed the magical playset to an eager McKenzie and her family. Forgetting about her illness, McKenzie tested out the slide and swings. Her wish day was filled with many smiles as she celebrated her wish come true.
The playset, which brought all of McKenzie’s dreams right to her doorstep, will be a constant reminder of the hope, strength, and joy of a wish come true. McKenzie’s wish will continue to be a source of happiness well into the future.
