(Chardon, Ohio) January 8th, 2019— When Chardon High School senior Katy was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor, music helped bring her peace and distract her from the pain and medical treatments. On Monday, January 14th, Make-A-Wish® Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana is granting Katy’s heartfelt wish to transform her high school choir room into a world-class facility so that other students can enjoy her love of music.
The day after receiving the diagnosis she had a brain tumor, Katy found solace in music therapy. During hospital stays she could often be found playing Mozart on a portable piano brought to her room. “It was a really, really scary time, but music was and is her happy place,” reflected Katy’s mom.
You are invited to attend the wish reveal and speak with Katy, her mother, a Make-A-Wish representative, and others who will be available for interviews. A picture of Katy is attached.

Make-A-Wish relies on the financial support of the local community and organizations to grant wishes. Currently, only one out of every two eligible children gets their wish granted.

About Make-A-Wish® Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana
Make-A-Wish® creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. We are on a quest to bring every eligible child's wish to life, because a wish is an integral part of a child's treatment journey. Research shows children who have wishes granted can build the physical and emotional strength they need to fight a critical illness. There are currently over 200 children in northeast Ohio who are awaiting their wish. For more details on how to get engaged with our chapter, please visit www.oki.wish.org
