17-year-old wish kid Kammy, who battles a rare genetic disorder, loves playgrounds, especially the swings. Her face lights up every time she watches other children laughing and playing on the equipment.
When deciding her one true wish, she knew she wanted something that would bring people of all abilities together. Her wish to give the community an inclusive swing is coming true on Friday, October 18th in Fishers, Indiana.
“We hope that this piece of inclusive playground equipment brings joy to many children and their families for many years to come,” said Kammy’s dad, Jared. “Perhaps it will spark a passion to build more inclusive playgrounds in our communities.”
The Fishers, Indiana Mayor has declared Friday, October 18th ‘Make-A-Wish Day’ in Fishers in honor of Kammy’s selfless wish, the 17,000th wish granted by Make-A-Wish Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. On that day, the entire community is invited to come out to the park to celebrate Kammy and our 17,000th milestone!
“A community celebration is the perfect way to honor the spirit of Kammy’s wish,” said Make-A-Wish representative Kelsey Barta who helped grant Kammy’s wish. “She chose a wish that will benefit so many other children and families. She is a remarkable girl!”
