Wish kid Adrian is anything but ordinary. He’s faced numerous obstacles in his young life. Adrian has been on the autism spectrum since being diagnosed at three years old. At just 16, he got the devastating news he had brain cancer and underwent two grueling brain surgeries, weeks of radiation and rounds of chemotherapy.
“His life was turned upside down when he was diagnosed with brain cancer,” reflected his mom Veronica. “As a result, he was not able to attend school and will have to repeat his senior year, twice. Cancer just drained him and his soul. We prayed so much.”
When it came time to decide his one true wish he knew exactly what he wanted--and it was no ordinary request. He wished to go to Hawaii and cage dive with sharks! BIG sharks!
Adrian fearlessly got right into the shark cage deep underwater and came within inches of the fearsome creatures. The wish experience was the life-changing break his family said they all needed.
“Adrian’s wish put the fire back into him. His wish was an escape… he didn’t have to think about getting scanned, or poked or prodded. We got to be a family again, he got to just be a kid again and it transformed him and his spirit,” said Veronica.
Today, Adrian is cancer free and after his wish experience he has a new outlook on life. He learned if he could beat cancer, there wasn’t anything he couldn’t overcome. A wish so inspiring you could say it’s downright scary.
