Destiny is a courageous little girl who has spent much of her life enduring doctor’s appointments and medical procedures. The five-year-old is currently battling a life-threatening seizure disorder that makes living a typical life challenging.
Despite her condition, Destiny, free-spirited, loves being outside, playing princesses, and watching Dora the Explorer.
When wish granters visited Destiny and asked her what was her most heartfelt wish, Destiny wished to go to Walt Disney World® Resort with her two older brothers and parents. Destiny couldn't wait to have fun with her favorite characters.
Destiny’s mother was just as excited for the family’s opportunity to escape their medical struggles and just relax. “It gives you a chance to get away, to be stress-free for a week without thinking about medical bills and going to doctor’s appointments, and to just be able to have fun as a family,” she said of the Make-A-Wish experience.
Destiny and her family boarded an airplane to Orlando, Florida to kick off their fun-filled adventure. As Destiny sat on the plane, little did she imagine the magic that was soon to unfold.
Destiny’s family spent an action-packed week exploring all that Walt Disney World® has to offer. Along with her parents and siblings, Destiny fed dolphins, met Disney princesses, and even had a special visit from her favorite television character, Dora the Explorer, who joined the family for breakfast and danced with Destiny!
When asked about the value of a wish for a child, Destiny’s mother replied, “It allows the kid to just be a kid. There’s nothing weighing on them and they do not have to worry.” For a week, Destiny’s entire family was able to forget about the countless tests and treatments, and instead focus solely on the joy of a wish come true.
