Katrina, 17, is a big fan of musicals and everything Disney. So when she was asked what her one true wish would be, it was no surprise that she said she wanted to go to New York City to see The Lion King on Broadway.

Katrina recently battled congestive heart failure and received a heart transplant. Her family and her best friend, Maureen, were there for her every step of the way.

Wish Coordinator, Abbey Sciarini commented, “Katrina and Maureen have been through a lot together and Maureen has really been there to support her. Katrina wanted to surprise her and bring her along!”

Upon arriving in New York City, Katrina went to Elizabeth Arden Red Door Salon to get her hair and make-up done before seeing The Lion King on Broadway! After the show, Maureen, Katrina and her family got a back stage experience of The Lion King.

“After the great performance, we met James Brown-Orleans, who has played the hyena Banzai for 11 years, and he gave us a wonderful backstage tour.” Said Katrina, “We got to see all the costumes and puppets, and even got to meet a few of the other cast mates!”

While in New York City, Katrina and her family decided to take full advantage of their surroundings and go sight seeing. They trekked all over the city, seeing landmarks like the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, and even Central Park, just to name a few!

It was a memorable, once in a life time trip that my parents and my friend Maureen and I really enjoyed. We have so many great memories from the trip! ”
