For eight-year-old Riley, life is anything but easy. In the midst of a courageous battle against liver disease, Riley made his one true wish: to go out west. Riley wanted to explore all the west has to offer: Yellowstone National Park, rodeos, geysers and mesmerizing scenery.
Riley and his family began their expedition out west in Cody, WY with a stop at the rodeo. Riley met real western cowboys and clowns and was even invited to join them in the show! Riley had a blast as he suited up in a clown costume and became a part of the rodeo cast.
The next stop on their journey was Yellowstone Park. Riley and his family explored Yellowstone over a few days, taking in all the beautiful park has to offer.
At the park, Riley and his family spotted buffalo and elk as they admired the beauty of the scenery. They enjoyed an authentic western cookout, complete with scrumptious food and a singing cowboy.
Riley and his family also saw the Mammoth Hot Springs in West Yellowstone, MT. There, they visited the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center, where Riley loved watching wolves and bears up close.
The next day, Riley and his family headed to Old Faithful, where they watched in amazement as the geysers erupted over and over again.
Riley couldn’t leave Yellowstone without going to the Teton Mountain Range and Jackson Hole. The family stayed in a rustic cabin on the lake, which was perfect for fishing. Riley and his brothers played on the beach and fished, giving Riley the chance to enjoy being a normal kid.
Riley and his family topped off his wish experience watching a breathtaking sunset over the Teton Mountain Range.
“We are so very grateful for all that was done for Riley and our family. We will NEVER forget those days,” expressed Riley’s mother, Rebekah, in a letter to Make-A-Wish.
