Logan wished to have a space to recuperate and call his very own; a man cave where he would have the opportunity to keep up with all of his favorite hobbies and spend time with his friends during recovery.
Like other boys his age, 14-year-old Logan enjoys playing videogames, spending time with his friends and following his favorite football team, the Texas Longhorns.
Logan is currently battling a rare form of cancer that affects his muscles. Because of the severity of this condition, Logan spends long periods of time indoors as he regains his strength from treatment.
It was no surprise when wish-granting volunteers met with Logan that he wished to have a space to recuperate and call his very own; a man cave. In this dream space, Logan would have the opportunity to keep up with all of his favorite hobbies and spend time with his friends during recovery.
Make-A-Wish, DirectBuy, local volunteers and community businesses rallied together to give Logan a personalized space, committing to re-design the family’s garage into the ultimate man cave.
DirectBuy generously donated a new sofa, loveseat, and shelving. The room was also decked out in Texas Longhorn memorabilia. Numerous volunteers in the community pitched in as well, donating hours of work to make sure Logan had the man cave of his dreams.
The day of the reveal was unforgettable for Logan and his family. Make-A-Wish Staff, family, friends and community volunteers gathered in the family driveway awaiting the big moment.
As the Make-A-Wish banner was cut and the doors to the garage rose, the smile on Logan’s face, the signature of a wish come true, was priceless.
Logan was thrilled with his man cave. Amidst all the excitement, he shared with reporters, “I don’t think I’m ever going to leave this room. This will help me get through the last weeks of radiation.”
For Logan, his wish reveal was a day of spending time with family and friends, celebrating his road to recovery in a room that will provide him joy and laughter – the best kind of medicine to heal.
